Vibrant fleeting little light. I beckon thee with all my might.

I'm currently listening to Solvent. I dig Solvent because, although the Zimbabwe composer produces music that is largely synthetic, he also carves out a unique place for himself among other electronic composers by sticking to solid song structure and recurring melodic themes. He does not, however, canonize any individual theme to the point of monotonous self-destruction as so many of his colleagues seem to do. The composition of the songs is the same as you would find with any other well trained non-electronic artist. That being said, Solvent is a robot and he knows it. This is not a half-hearted, computer-based effort designed to beguile the tender ear. In the words of Stiff Strike, Solvent "Knows his Role" and plays it beautifully. I have absolutely no difficulty accepting and appreciating this work as a viable method of melodic innovation.
